أنشئت مدارس الجامعة في عام 1400 هـ، في رحاب جامعة الملك فهـد للبترول والمعادن بالظهران بجهـود نخبة من أعضاء هيئة التدريـس بالجامعة بعـد أن كانـت مجرد فكرة فـي أذهان مؤسـسيها، حيـث كانت بدايتها متواضعة من ناحية المنشآت وعـدد الطلاب والمدرسـين، ولكنها خلال فتــرة قصـيرة مـن الزمن نمت المدارس نموًا سريعًا فاقت التوقعات مـن حيـث تطور مناهجها وبرامجها التعليمية والتربوية وتوسعت منشآتها ومبانيها المدرسية وزاد عدد طلابها وطالباتها حتـى أصبحت صرحًا تعليميًا شامخًا يضـم داخـل أسواره مختلف المراحل الدراسية.
