نبذة عن مدارس الشمس الأهلية

بدأت فكرة إنشاء المدارس عندما لم يكن بالرياض إلا القليل من المدارس المتباعدة . وكان ذلك في عام 1404هـ الموافق لعام 1983م . وافتتحت المدارس في ذلك العام وكانت تشمل فقط رياض أطفال ، ثم في العام التالي أكتمل فيها القسم الابتدائي حتى عام 1408هـ الموافق 1987م حيث تم افتتاح القسم الابتدائي للبنين ثم توالت السنوات إلى أن أصبحت تضم المدارس تحت جنباتها جميع الأقسام .
أما الاسم فقد جاءت فكرته من الحكمة القديمة ( العلم نور ) وحيث أن الشمس هي النور المزود للأرض طاقتها فأصبحت ممثلة لنفس المسمى . كذلك كان الهدف والغاية ، هو أن تكون الشمس رمزا للوضوح والانتشار .
وبالنسبة للموقع فقد كانت مدارس الشمس في مباني مستأجرة ليس لها موقع واضح . أما الآن فقد تم إنشاء مباني مدرسية متميزة لكل من البنين والبنات . والمدارس تقع في مدينة الرياض وفي حي من أرقى أحيائها وهو حي الروضة على شارع حفصة بنت عمر .
